What is the Montessori Method?
"Our education aim with very young children must be to aid the spontaneous development of the mental, spiritual and physical personality." Maria Montessori
Montessori is an educational method based on the philosophy that a child learns best within a social environment that supports his or her unique development. The academic subjects as well as the practical life and sensorial exercises are presented as hands-on activities, cultivating a natural desire for learning.
The Montessori method was developed in Italy around the turn of the century by Dr. Maria Montessori. It is now known worldwide and well respected as a method of early childhood education. Dr. Montessori discovered, through research and observation, that children learn effortlessly and joyfully when presented with an enriched environment.
The Children's House provides a carefully prepared environment, which gives each child many opportunities for development and intellectual growth. A strong start in a child's education can have an enormous impact on his or her ability to excel, to learn, and most importantly, in developing the child's self-esteem.
Our director, Emily Penwell with 36 years of experience, understands the importance of quality child care and that's the goal at The Children's House! Please make an appointment to come talk to us, we'd love to introduce you to our family.
